Art Museums in TexasIf you’re in the Rosenberg area, there are several museums available for you to explore the arts and overall history of the town. From railroads to the natural sciences, this town tackles it all. Check out these must-see museums in the Rosenberg area.

Rosenberg Railroad Museum

The Rosenberg Railroad Museum is home to a variety of educational and inspiring exhibits. One of these exhibits is the museum gallery, which lets you view artifacts and photos that showcase the town’s history through the railroads that previously went through Fort Bend County.

You can also climb aboard the 1879 railcar, Quebec, that was created as a passenger coach. Though this type of construction is no longer allowed, the Quebec railcar was built solely from wood and was used for 86 years. It spent 40 of those years as an official government business car. Kids can find entertainment through the education station, Wawa’s train, and the Garden Railroad project. The museum also offers docent-led tours, field trip opportunities, and hosts birthday parties for you and your family.

Normal hours for this museum are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6 for seniors 55 and older, military personnel, and first responders, $5 for children aged 2-14, and free for kids under 2. It’s located at 1921 Avenue F.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land

Though the Houston Museum of Natural Science is located in Houston, it also has a Sugar Land location near Rosenberg. This museum has a variety of exhibits including the Life Science and Space Science collections, the Hall of Paleontology, the Hall of Technology, and Discover Works. You can also explore special attractions like the augmented reality collection or the dig pit, which lets you “discover” fossils from the prehistoric era.

If your children are interested in diving deeper into their love of science, have them take part in the museum’s summer camp. It offers an action-packed experience and aims to educate campers in science, art, robotics, chemistry, paleontology, and other subject areas.

This museum is located at 13016 University Boulevard. Regular hours for the Sugar Land location are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. It’s closed Monday through Wednesday.

The Black Cowboy Museum

The Black Cowboy Museum contains a variety of story and memorabilia collections that highlight the history of black cowboys in Texas. The museum also offers group tour packages such as the Larry Callies Tour and the Museum Tour.
