2021 blue Ford ExplorerIf you’re in the market for a new SUV, you should consider the 2021 Ford Explorer. It’s the perfect vehicle for work or play, and with five trim levels to choose from, there’s an Explorer for everyone. Let’s explore the 2021 Explorer trim levels and what they offer drivers.

Base Trim

The 2021 Explorer’s base trim level offers classic SUV styling enhanced by a sleek black grille and matching accents. Inside, you’ll find a spacious interior with seating for six or seven, depending on which seating configuration you choose. For a seven-seater, go with the bench seating. When equipped with second-row captain’s chairs, the Explorer can seat six. Premium cloth seating surfaces feature throughout. Interior amenities include SiriusXM radio, a six-speaker sound system, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. Under the base trim’s hood is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

XLT

The first thing you’ll notice about the Explorer XLT is its chrome bar-style grille that perfectly pairs with sleek color-keyed accents. While cloth seating surfaces come standard, you can upgrade to ActiveX upholstery, a premium synthetic material that has incredible resistance to wear and tear. You can also add a heated driver’s seat and passenger seat. The tri-zone automatic climate control features a filtration system that can filter out allergens and other impurities. Your second-row passengers will appreciate the second-row USB charging ports. Like the base trim, the XLT features the 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine.

Limited

Announcing its arrival with a metal-look grille and chrome accents, the Limited commands attention wherever it goes. Inside, you’ll find leather seating surfaces with micro-perforation and accent stitching. Heating and ventilation will keep you comfortable no matter what the weather’s like outside. The Sync system with voice-activated navigation gives you detailed directions and personalized traffic alerts. A 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system will make you feel like you’re front row at a concert. This trim level also features the 2.3-liter turbocharged engine.

ST

The ST will remind you of a race car with details like an aggressive front fascia and chrome exhaust tip. The trim-exclusive leather seating surfaces with City Silver accent stitching is sure to impress. If you add the available twin-panel moonroof, you’ll enjoy refreshing breezes and stunning views.

While the 2.3-liter four-cylinder comes standard, you can upgrade to a 400-horsepower, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that can put out 415 pound-feet of torque. With that much power, you can use your Explorer ST to tow up to 5,600 pounds. An intelligent four-wheel drive gives you traction and stability in the trickiest of driving conditions.

Platinum

No matter where you’re going, you’ll always stand out when you’re driving the Explorer Platinum, thanks to stunning metal-look accents and LED signature lighting. Trim-exclusive interior features include tri-diamond leather seating surfaces and a second-row console. Ambient lighting gives the cabin a warm and inviting feel. The Platinum is powered by the same twin-turbo V-6 found in the ST and also offers intelligent four-wheel drive.
