Ferris wheel at county fairRosenberg, TX is an incredible city to live in or visit! With the only state-designated Cultural District in the county, a wonderful arts scene, great restaurants, many fun events, and much more, you’ll never run out of things to love about Rosenberg.

1. The Rosenberg Railroad Museum

The Rosenberg Railroad Museum is located in downtown Historic Rosenberg. Here, visitors can learn about Roseberg’s original interlocking tower, Tower 17. They can even use the interlocker and operate semaphore signals by pulling levers, just like tower operators did back in the day.

Visitors can also watch the Houston Area G-Gaugers model train on the fourth Sunday of every month between 1 pm and 4 pm. This train is a miniature version of the Rosenberg & Richmond train. The Rosenberg Railroad Museum also has the MoPac Caboose, and a restored 1879 business railcar!

2. Brazos Bend State Park

This scenic park has six lakes and an observatory! It’s located just outside of Rosenberg, and it’s a wonderful place to spend the day. The park is great for hiking, fishing, and biking. There are 37 miles of trails, cabins, screened shelters, and campsites. Visitors can also ride their horses, go geocaching, or have a picnic.

Visitors can go stargazing on Saturday nights at George Observatory. Tickets are $10, and tours and talks are also available. The Goerge Observatory originally opened in 1989, and it has recently been renovated. There is a laster tour of the night sky as well as real-time camera feeds from telescopes.

3. The CAST Theatrical Company

Rosenberg is also home to the CAST Theatrical Company, which has provided Fort Bend County with live community theater performances since 1989. The CAST Theatrical Company produces five full-length stage plays each year and performs in the WM Long Theater in the Vogelsang Building.

4. The Vogelsang Building

In addition to hosting the CAST Theatrical Company’s community theater productions, the Vogelsang Building houses the Vogelsang Antique Emporium, where shoppers can find everything from shoes to cameras to furniture. The building is also home to BR Vino, the only wine bar in Rosenberg. BR Vino offers boutique wines, craft beers, and Brazo River Provisions’ homemade jellies, jams, and salsas. The Vogelsang Building also has the Ol’ Railroad Cafe.

The Vogelsang Building was built by Jacob Gray in 1910, and it was eventually bought by Vogelsang for his general merchandise business. With its corbelled cornices, bricks, and segmented-arch upper windows, the Vogelsang Building is beautiful. It became a Texas Historic Landmark in 1986.

5. Fort Bend County Fair

Rosenberg also hosts the Fort Bend County Fair, which is one of the largest fairs in the state. It lasts nine days and includes rodeos, livestock shows, a carnival, barbecue cook-offs, dances, and more!
