The 2018 Expedition: An 8-Passenger Truck That is Actually an SUV

If you're looking for a Ford F-150 and you're not familiar with the Ford Expedition, then stop. Don't scroll past this.

The Ford Expedition is technically a full-size SUV, complete with three rows of comfortable seating—but underneath that family-friendly body style beats the heart of a rugged pickup truck. The 2018 model, coming this fall, has been completely redesigned, and takes after the F-150 more than ever.

Like the latest-generation F-150, the 2018 Explorer is trading in its heavy steel body for lightweight aluminum alloy—shaving off 300 pounds of dead weight in the process. It's also getting an even more powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine (likely with the same specs as the F-150).

All this adds up to best-in-class towing capability, with an SAE trailer rating of 9,300 pounds.

To help novices avoid smashing innocent mailboxes and lampposts, and to help experienced drivers save time, the 2018 Expedition now offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology.

All-in-all, the latest-generation Expedition is shaping up to be one of the most rugged and versatile SUVs out there. Contact Legacy Ford for more information.
